WHAT IS EGRESSUS?

Sodalitas Egressus is an official group within Nova Roma, which was established on 14th June 2000. 

The mission of Sodalitas Egressus is to communicate, educate and participate in the promotion of the  classics in general, with special emphasis on opening the door onto a civilization that flourished over 2000 years ago and whose accomplishments, importance and effects are still relevant today.

The mandate of Egressus is to establish links with classical groups worldwide in order to promote an understanding of the work of Nova Roma. It also welcomes individuals interested in various aspects of Ancient Roman culture who wish  to share and expand their knowledge, as well as those who wish to access the various specialist interest groups within Nova Roma for research purposes.

Partnerships are sought with organizations involved in the preservation of classical sites, with the aim of publicizing their financial and volunteer needs within the Nova Roman community and the circles of influence of its members in the wider world. Egressus strives to establish local chapters within academic circles that can be built upon to form the basis for expanded Nova Roman community groups.

Egressus also seeks to participate, either directly or by promotion,  in any events which would increase the exposure of the general public to the classical world. Literature, art, music, cuisine, archaeology and re-enactment can all be vehicles for conveying the richness of the Roman heritage that the western world has inherited.
